Haemophilia B Information Day

With so many new developments in the pipeline in relation to haemophilia B, we are pleased to inform you that we have organised a specific meeting on Saturday 26th November, 2016 from 12pm - 5pm. This meeting will be free of charge and will take place in the offices of the Irish Haemophilia Society. The programme (see below) will include some very interesting sessions and will give members the opportunity to learn all about these new developments in the treatment of haemophilia B.

We would strongly encourage you to make every effort to attend this important meeting. If you would like to attend, please R.S.V.P. by contacting the office on 01 6579900, or by e-mailing the office at info@haemophilia.ie.

National Coagulation Centre

The National Centre for Hereditary Coagulation Disorders (NCHCD) has now been moved to the new hospital building in St. James hospital as part of the building process for the new national Children’s hospital on the St. James campus. The new centre, now renamed as the National Coagulation Centre (NCC), is situated two floors directly above the Haemophilia and Hepatology (H&H) in-patient ward. The new purpose built unit will be the site for haemophilia out patient clinics and dental work. The impressive purpose built floor includes two well-appointed dental suites and spacious consultation rooms. The centre's proximity to the H&H ward should optimise all services and support for people with haemophilia and related bleeding disorders. Further updates and information will appear in the next I.H.S. magazine.

I.H.S Members Conference 2016

A huge thanks to everyone who attended and participated in the Members Conference this year at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Sligo. The weekend was a huge success and proved entertaining and educational in equal measure for staff, members and kiddies!

With many of the sessions facilitated by members, this conference highlighted the community spirit of the I.H.S., allowing members to share stories, experiences and most of all, understanding. A communication workshop, a debate on treatments, mindfulness and cookery all played a part, not forgetting the competitive quiz on Saturday night!
