Aloha Bigs, Littles, Families and Friends!

This brand new year is off to a great start at Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii and we are excited to introduce you to the first edition of our statewide e-newsletter! Now we can share pictures and stories of the keiki we work with each day, give shout-outs to our partners and donors, and keep you in the loop about upcoming events. There are so many "big" and "little" ways you can make a difference - we welcome you to join us on this journey to help change the way children grow up in Hawaii. This year our resolution is to give youth brighter smiles and bigger dreams now and for the rest of their lives.

Wishing you the best for a healthy and happy 2015!

Mahalo nui loa,
Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hawaii Island
Eleven Waiakea High School and University of Hawaii Hilo students completed our BIG Orientation and are ready to meet their Littles at Waiakea Elementary. Challenging, interactive lessons emphasized the importance of teamwork, listening, safety and flexibility. They are a powerful team of Bigs ready to begin their BIG adventure!
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Honolulu
After being matched with his Little Brother Brandon for two years, Big Brother Chris had to move to the mainland, but whenever he's home, they make time to see each other. Chris wrote on his Facebook page, "One of the most important lessons I've learned being his 'big brother' is that there's always time to be present in someone's life. Make the time, stay committed because people will always remember how you made them feel no matter how much time and distance there is between you."
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kauai
In 2014, we served 80 matches like Big Sister Dinah and Little Sister Justyce – a record number of Bigs and Littles for Kauai! Pictured here is the pair on one of their first outings, thanks to Princeville Ranch Adventures.

The School-Based mentorship program in Lahaina made vision boards to welcome the new year! Little Brother Christian and Big Brother Jared focused on goals for their family, school, sports and health. Making goals and sharing our hopes and dreams for the future strengthen the connection of our community.
