2016/17 winter competition and training dates

The committee has been very busy booking dates for our arena TREC competitions this winter! We also have mounted PTV training with un-mounted judges’ training alongside and the club AGM (including unmounted navigation training). We have compiled a combined schedule again, as last year, so please check the details of the Entries Secretary carefully.

AGM, social and un-mounted training - Sunday 13th November

Please join us for a great opportunity to polish your navigation skills, enjoy our clubs annual social event and listen to Daniel Nolan share tales of his adventures riding in Europe.

Central Committee and Chairman update

Central is of course run by its committee and whilst this body is good heart at present we are always delighted for more people to join if they would like to be involved. This year, our founding Chairman Anna Weston has expressed her intention to step down from the role after five years so we will be looking for a new Chairman. TREC GB Annual Awards Dinner - 21st January 2017 

Places are filling fast for the TREC GB Annual Awards dinner on the 21st January at the Ardencote Manor Country Hotel. If you are planning to attend the dinner and would like to sit on a Central Trec Group table please email central@trecgroup,co,uk once you have booked your ticket and we will collate a list of names to be put forward for our tables.

Winwick full and Score TREC results

Central TREC Group’s last event of the 2016 summer season was much enjoyed by those who attended, the sun shone and over 50 riders had a great weekend in the pretty Northamptonshire countryside. The results from the full and Score TREC competitions are now all available on our Results page.

CTG at the British TREC Championships

Central TREC Group had over 30 members take part in this year's national championships at Poplar Park in Suffolk. The POR provided fabulous sandy tracks and fast speeds plus pigs! Whilst the PTV took advantage of the undulating cross country course at the venue to give everyone a great ride round. Full results from the Championships can be found here.

Central TREC Camp 2017

Following the success of this year's camp, Julia McHugh has agreed to organised CTG's 2017 camp. Next year's camp will take place from 7th - 9th April 2017 in Dudgeley, Shropshire. Once again Central members will be able to book places first up until 31st December. More info to follow soon!

Andrew Gray's report from Central's 2016 TREC Camp at Somerford Park

A friend had told me about TREC and having been in the scout movement many years ago and having really liked map reading and given that I learnt to ride three years ago, the combination sounded ideal. Before competing, I decided to join Central TREC and go to the training camp at Somerford Park.

A group of Central TREC members took to the Derbyshire Dales for a weekend of on foot navigation training which turned out to be very useful for those who competed at Llanthony in the Welsh Black Mountains later that month! Anna's shares her insights from the weekend. Read the full article here.
