Dear Smithfield Tutors,

We appreciate your dedication to your students during this busy holiday season. Read below for tutor resources and other fun announcements, including details on Heart's Holiday Family Event!
Important Logistics
Heart Holiday Family Event - Please plan to join us on Thursday, December 12th from 8:00-8:30 AM in the cafeteria to meet your students' families, play games that they can take home, enjoy light refreshments, and celebrate students’ progress.  Click here to RSVP. If you would like to help with the event, please let me know!

Monday, December 23 to Friday, January 3 - Winter Break – NO SCHOOL,  NO TUTORING. Tutoring resumes Monday, January 6!

Please make note of all CMS holidays and teacher workdays using the calendar here. If your tutoring time falls on a holiday, I can help you reschedule for a different day that week, if your schedule permits. Thank you for your flexibility during these busy seasons!
Tutor Tip: Practice Makes Perfect!
Practicing math skills at home helps student success! At the Holiday Family Event, students will receive a Winter Break package that includes math games and the holiday card you made. Please spend 5 minutes at the end of your tutoring sessions during the weeks of  Dec. 9th & 16th making sure your students know the card games well enough to play them at home with their family, siblings and friends. Focus on the activities corresponding to your student’s current notebook level. (Game directions and some example videos can be found here and will be provided at tutoring.)

No Gifts Necessary: Remember, your presence is their present. Heart will provide a math-oriented holiday gift for each student at the family event. If you wish to present your student with a gift, please discuss recommendations and best practices with your program coordinator.
Tutor/Student Spotlight
Building Skills and Confidence!
One of our Rama Road students has worked so hard this year with her tutors, boosting not only her math skills but her confidence as well! Her teacher says this student is usually pretty quiet, but that she raised her hand for the first time in class the other day to answer a question – so exciting! We are so proud of her!!
