Moving Nutritiously: Michelle Spicka to Present at Wholehearted Healthcare on April 12
by Tanya R. Cochran, Editor

Did you know that even the most "active" among us—the runner, hiker, and biker—is sedentary overall?! This astonishing fact is one of many that Katy Bowman, M.S., Picture of Michelle Spicka, DPTfounder of Nutritious Movement, explains in her short video on how we move and why we all need more education about healthy ways to keep our bodies in motion. Luckily, Lincoln, NE, has its own specialist in healthy movement: Michelle Spicka, DPT.

Wholehearted Healthcare is excited to welcome Dr. Spicka to the clinic! She is a specialist in pelvic pain and dysfunction and a team member at Husker Rehabilitation. In her presentation on Wednesday, April 12, 7:30-8:30 p.m., she'll cover three key points:
  1. Chronic pain is not natural.
  2. You are how you move.
  3. Don't just sit there . . . transitioning to a more active life.
Everyone will gain valuable wellness information during the presentation.

This event is open to the public; $20 (cash or personal check) at the door on the evening of the event. Because of great interest in Dr. Spicka's presentation, please contact us via email to reserve your spot. We have room for twenty people.

Living with Intention: Daily Questions for Self
by Tanya R. Cochran, Editor, and Gena Foster

"Personal power is based on strength, confidence, and competence . . . It is self-assertion, and a natural, healthy striving for love, satisfaction, and meaning in one's interpersonal world," writes Robert Firestone, Ph.D. As we develop our personal power over time and through experiences, says Dr. Firestone, the outward result is that we tend to treat others more generously and humanely and live more creative lives.

Amy Morin, LCSW and author of 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don't Do, explains that one way we give our personal power away is not knowing and living by our values. In an article for Inc., she cautions, "When you're not clear what your values are, you're at risk of becoming more like a helpless passenger, rather than a confident driver, in your own life. You'll be at risk of jumping on board with other people's ideas and you may be easily led astray. Take back your power by acknowledging your values and living true to what's important to you."

Inspired by leaders in personal growth such as Brendon Burchard and others, Gena wishes to share some of the questions she uses to set her own intentions each day, live by her values, and grow as a person. She hopes these three questions—or ones you create for yourself—inspire and support you as you continue to grow as a being.

Daily Questions for Self

  1. Who is important to me and why?
  2. How shall I interact with them so that they are appreciated and experience the best of who I am?
  3. What kind of person should I become so that I am happy with how I treat others?
Intention: So that I have lived and loved in congruence with my heart and highest humanity.
