We know it has only been a short time since our last newsletter, but the continued progress of the village school brings so much happiness to us, our students and the wider village, that we just couldn't wait to share with you again! We hope that this mini update brings a little piece of sunshine to your inbox today.

The Mango Tree School Journey - We Sure Have Come a Long Way!
In 2012 our school building as we know it today did not exist. Our original classroom consisted of a rather dilapidated structure made of palm fronds, followed by a school room built as an additional room on our home! We did not have much, but we did have big dreams for the future.

The generosity of our supporters gave us the means to begin making the community's vision of a village school a reality - commencing with the acquisition of a neighbouring structure: a building with a big blue roof (and little else)!

Utilising this structure, a basic school building and community centre was completed in 2013, ready for the intake of 100 students in grades 1 to 3 for the start of the school year (Nov 2014). The community's aim was to add an additional grade to the school each year.

After our first very successful year of operation, we are so excited to share that our additional Grade 4 classroom has been fully finished for the start of the new school year (November 2015). With the financial support of our sponsors and donors, and the hard work of volunteers onsite from New Zealand,
we have been able to upgrade our existing school by adding an additional classroom and installing ceilings, electricity, lighting and fans - creating a quality learning environment for our students.

We cannot wait for the first day of term, where we will welcome 40 new students to our school, bringing our total student numbers to 140 (Grades 1 to 4). This is truly an achievement and we thank everyone involved in helping us reach this significant milestone.

We look forward to bringing you more exciting news in our future newsletters about additional expansions to our school. Watch this space!!
Here's How You Can Help Us to Continuing Bringing Education to the Children of the Tang Khiev Village...
The operation and ongoing expansion of The Mango Tree School is entirely dependent on funds raised through donations and child sponsorships. With our school opening to a new grade next month we have 60 eager students that we would love to match up with a sponsor.

By sponsoring a child for just $50.00 a month ($600.00 per year), you will be making a significant investment in the education of a child, as well as contributing to the ongoing operation of the school for the benefit of all children in the community.

Why sponsor a child through us?
  • As a small, grassroots charity, based within this community, we are able to make sure that your sponsorship dollars go directly to the Tang Khiev children.
  • Working to support the local leadership committee selected by the villagers themselves, we have had demonstrable success in delivering community projects (See our Project Progress @ and;
  • Our partners, such as the Global Development Group, and The Great Commission Stories, help to give you peace of mind that we operate a transparent, compliant charity with good governance structures.
